Another day of worthless thinking!!

Well I m not the only one, there would be many a people, ‘thinking’ is whose favorite time pass. As I write this in the MS word, I think about the difference between ‘favorite’ and ‘favourite’. And that, out of blues remind me of the ‘Hindi Divas’. I have very clear views about this which I ‘d like to share. We talk about socializing, we say we should rise above ourselves and work for your family, society, nation. And we stop here. We can very well extend this notion to mankind. We should rise above our nations, while the traditions and habits that we share for ages might be things to cherish, but definitely bragging about our nation being the greatest and all, will not be appreciated if we analyze it rationally. While patriotism is a good thing, it unites us, make us work for each other at least at the national level, but it doesn’t provide the accurate and complete view. We could surely rise above this to think ourselves to be human rather than citizens of a particular nation, our allegiance is to mankind and not to a particular nation. While in India we find ourselves morally secure, we believe us to be a peaceful nation, what about the residents of Pakistan, if they adopt the same dogmatic view, how could the peace negotiations ever yield a fruitful result. And for an instance, if we found out that we were always wrong about Kashmir, and it was the wrong image that Indian media always projected (most of us havn’t been to Kashmir after all and we don’t know about the conditions prevailing there), how would we justify all the patriotic songs and our stance that we are the greatest nation. We all know people are getting morally corrupt more than ever, c’mon people, we can be a lot better than this, we ought to improve ourselves before we can brag about our nation and that would be serving an even better purpose, it would be for the cause of humanity.

Coming back to Hindi, well I would say that IT has done a great job by reducing the gap between people across the world, believe it or not, I would say we are getting global by every passing day. The foreign language has been instrumental in all this so let’s accept the more widespread language as medium of communication across the nations, instead of making rest of the world learn Hindi. While Hindi lovers would always cherish the language and will advertise the qualities of the language, and they will talk about the times when the language was instrumental in getting us our freedom; and they would be right. Oh no!! that’s what they are doing. What else do we do when we celebrate the ‘Hindi Divas’. Another day of useless work. I wrote all this in the end to contradict myself. And I m lost in thoughts again……….

Every civilization, worth its name, has its own culture, langauge. What makes us Indian?? It is the bond of culture which does it and language is an integral part of it. Do away with your culture and language and you would end up as just one of those many straws floating about in the wind.

Think it over and tell me what is it that we identify with our civilization the most. Is it Hindi or is it something which is much more wider in scope and definition. Our civilization boasts of highly intellectual people who look at things in a more sophisticated way. The rationality, the spirituality and simplicity are the hallmarks of our civlization.
